Again we don t want the powder to be pushed into the carpet by the vacuum we just want the suction power of the equipment to remove the toner without agitation. You ll need to lift the spilled toner directly out of the carpet.

Follow these steps to remove this white powder. Best case scenario is to use the attachment wand common to many vacuums or a wet dry vac if available. However this method can have a bleaching effect on dark colored carpet. Complete removal may reqiure repeating the same step several times.

If your vacuum cleaner is designed for dry carpet only do not vacuum the stained area until the removal procedure is finished and the carpet is dry. What about the carpet. Make sure to check what your local regulations allow if you may dispose of the toner powder in your public waste disposal system. The alcohol will break down the glue that holds the carpet together.

If the carpet is white or very light in color hydrogen peroxide may work to remove the toner. Use it with caution on carpeting and do not allow it to soak into the carpet backing. Do not use water. Any remaining toner on the floor or other surface you can vacuum up with a toner vacuum cleaner.

Carpet powder that freshens odors and absorbs spills and messes costs a bit more than the varieties that simply neutralize smells.
